An Exciting Commute!

I have been commuting to Fairfield (CA), from Martinez - about 25 minutes - for work each weekday morning for the past four months now and every day it is the same boring drive. Most of the time I arrive at work and after parking realize I was on auto-pilot for the last 25-30 minutes of my life, but today was different! It was hands down the most exciting commute I have had thus far (mind you I obviously commute both ways [to and from work] believe it or not... otherwise, well, nevermind, you know how it works). I relayed the story to my sister-in-law, Deirdree - or Didi, as we call her - in the following words:

"So, get this. On my way to work today, I was just speeding along, minding my own business heading north on 680 right? And then, all of a sudden, BOOM! There they were, SIX (maybe more) cop cars! Count ‘em, SIX! I tapped my breaks a tad to slow my speed from a whopping 80 mph to the ‘recommended’ 65. Well, didn’t matter anyways because they were all stopped on a frontage road. It looked a little something like a clip from an old western (cue *whistle noise* from the western movies like w/ Clint Eastwood). There they were, walking in a group, dressed in police officer blue with their gold stars glistening in the sunlight. The fog offered a good backdrop, something like from Armageddon upon the groups’ triumphant return to earth, or maybe it’s when they were loading into the ship, who knows. But it was real! The old saying goes, “curiosity killed the cat.” Good thing I’m not a cat, otherwise curiosity might have killed me as I was rubber-necking, my eyes connecting with a dead body sprawled out in morbid fashion, lying in the middle of the frontage road. Then, there I was, back in reality just seconds later, though it had seemed an eternity in the slow-motion action flick that had just taken place in my little sub-reality theatre. Crazy stuff eh?! To be continued…. The action never stops."

Well, the part I failed to relay to Didi was that after that amazing encounter, I was waiting in traffic and witnessed a semi-truck rear-end a compact vehicle. BOOM! Just like that. Right in front of my eyes. (fortunately no one was injured, but how could they be when we were all going about .2374 miles per hour?) Anyways, if that's not an exciting commute, I don't know what is.

Finally!

Well, I am finally creating a blog for myself. I don't even really know if I'll keep it up, but I would hope so. I am not much of a 'blogger' when it comes to personal things, but for other things I'm starting to dive into 'blogging' a little bit more. I suppose it is something that can grow on me. We'll see.
